The Music Ministry at St. Francis and St. Philip is a continuously growing and evolving ministry within our parish. Members of the music program help cover the singing and leading of liturgical music at a total of 6 weekend Masses, Holy Days of Obligation, and Holidays such as Easter and Christmas.
About the Directors
As we journey together into Beacons of Light, our parish family Music Ministry is led by Director, Doug Stegeman and Associate Directors, Charlie Worth, and Laura Langland.
Doug Stegeman, Director - Doug is responsible for the music selection, scheduling, choir/cantor rehearsals, and playing the majority of the weekend and Holy Day Liturgies. Doug also writes choral arrangements
of various pieces of music done throughout the year. Doug comes to us with close to 20 years of experience as a Music Director in the Catholic Church,
as well as 10 years serving as a volunteer and as a paid sub prior to his first Music Director position in 2007.
Laura Langland, Associate Director - Laura Langland is an Associate
Director for our parish family who accompanies weekend liturgies and
helps accompany choir rehearsals. Laura Langland comes to us from
the east side of Cincinnati, having spent over 20 years as a Music Director
for St. Louis in Owensville, Ohio. In more recent years, Laura has helped
as a sub throughout various parishes in the Archdiocese.
Charlie Worth, Associate Director - Charlie Worth is an Associate Director
for our parish family who accompanies weekend liturgies and helps accompany choir rehearsals. Charlie Worth comes to us from a very diverse musical background. Charlie spent many years playing music at his Catholic Church in Chicago before moving around to other aspects of music over the years. In more recent years, Charlie has been involved in directing musical theater and being responsible for the music programs on cruise lines.
Music Ministry Leadership Team!
In addition to our directors, our parish family Music ministry is also served by a leadership team comprised of music ministers from both churches in order to best serve each individual church, as well as grow together as one family, one true
Body of Christ.
Sunday Choir
Choirs lead the music at 3 of the 6 weekend liturgies in our parish family, as well as certain Mass times on Holy Days. The choir is open to people of all ages with a willingness and desire to lead our congregation in sung prayer. Choirs cover the music for the 9 am Sunday Mass at St. Francis de Sales and the 9 am and 11 am Masses at St. Philip the Apostle. Two rehearsals are offered every week: Tuesday Evenings at 7 pm at St. Philip and Wednesday Evenings at 7 pm at St. Francis de Sales. Please contact Doug Stegeman at dstegememan@stphilipmorrow.org for more details.
Guitar Ensemble
The parish family Guitar Ensemble leads the music at most 4 pm Saturday Masses at St. Philip. Instrumentalists and singers attend a rehearsal with the choir (either Tuesday at 7 pm at St. Philip or Wednesday at 7 pm at St. Francis). Guitar Ensemble will not play on Saturdays that the Children's Choir or Teen Ensemble leads the music at the 4 pm Mass. Please contact Doug Stegeman at dstegememan@stphilipmorrow.com for more details.
